My mortgage was just sold to EverHome Mortgage, Co. this August By Regions/Union Planters, I immediately began looking up info on them because I had never heard of them, and the local branch for Regions/UPMort. was up the street, I could make the payments directly to the bank. My mortgage was sold, and I fell behind in the July Payment, and knew I was going to be late for August, I called them on Aug. 8th to advise them both payments would be made on the 29th of August. I receive a letter in the mail dated Aug.15th that my house is in default. And will require that I pay $1417.52 plus another months payment totaling $2077.00 tried to contact them but Tropical Storm Fay seemed to have given them the day off, and a weekend for me to worry.

The EverHome Nightmare Continues
Apparently last month's processing error lives on. In my previous post I mentioned that I discovered that the mortgage payment I submitted on time for July was never processed. EverHome called on at 10:15 pm on the 31st of the month asking for payment. This was their first attempt to notify me of the error. During that phone call I gave them the date, time and confirmation number of the payment I had already submitted and was left to believe the issue had been resolved. Unfortunately, that was not the case as I was hit with late charges and a late payment was added to my credit report less than 24 hours later. I discovered this when I logged in to make my August payment and found that the July charge remained. I made a payment over the phone that day to cover the added fees, the July payment that never processed and the August payment as well. I was assured in the phone call that everthing had been taken care of.
Today I received a letter that was post marked four days after that phone call. The letter indicates that my loan is in default. I don't know how this could be possible as my August loan payment was submitted seven days before it is considered late and it cleared my bank account three days later. According to the EverHome Mortgage website, I owe no payments for another 16 days. Their letter informs me that I have two to three weeks to see if I qualify for action that will prevent immediate foreclosure.

My EverHome Nightmare
About a year ago my mortgage was sold to Everhome Mortgage Company. Things got off to a strange start as I noticed that the first couple of payments I tried to make through the EverHome Mortgage website took a week or two to process. After a few months of long and irregular payment processing times I stopped checking my bank account daily to make sure the payments cleared.
That's when the trouble started. My wife logged in to make our monthly payment and the Everhome website began locking up on her. She submitted our payment as usual when the site froze. She saved the screenshot and assumed the payment was processing. The payment took forever as usual to process and we thought nothing of it until the "late payment" showed up on my credit report. I immediately submitted the payment again and spoke to Everhome Mortgage about the original submission and asked where I could send the screenshot of the original payment. I was informed that Everhome Mortgage did not use email, the credit report was "my problem" and that they would do nothing to correct it. There went 30-40 points on my credit score.
I got another nasty surprise last week on the 31st. Just after 10 in the evening, I received a call asking if I would be making a mortgage payment for July. I informed them that the payment had been made on time several weeks prior to the Everhome Mortgage website and provided the date, amount and confirmation number of the transaction. The Everhome representative took down the number, thanked me for the help and promptly hung up without explanation. As I was in the middle of a business meeting, I decided to follow up on the phone call the next day.
That was my second mistake. Although the Everhome representative led me to believe that the issue had been resolved, that was not the case. I found to my dismay that another "late payment" had been added to my credit report. In addition I had been charged for a "bad check". There went another 30-40 points on my credit score.
I immediately checked with my bank who informed me that they had never received the payment request from Everhome Mortgage. I had them document this meticulously and then called Everhome demanding an explanation. Everhome claims to have had trouble matching the bank and routing number and discovered this four days after my payment was submitted. Then they decided to wait 13 days before contacting me (on the 31st) in the late night phone call. Apparently, if I had submitted a second payment on that evening it would have posted in July and the account would have been considered current and not reported to the credit agencies. However, I did not as I had been incorrectly informed that the issue had been resolved. Again, the credit report was "my responsibility" and Everhome Mortgage would do nothing to correct it. They took no accountability for the fact that they informed me the issue was resolved less than 24 hours prior to submitting the "late payment" report.
I've now lost a net 60-80 points on my credit score due to their payment processing problems. I'm contesting the credit report and would like to move to another lender but that gets less and less attractive with every negative report they file against me. Does anyone have suggestions? If you've had similar issues with Everhome Mortgage that you've been able to resolve please let me know.
